Water on our Earth today, is the same water that's been here for nearly 5 billion years. As water continually changes phases within our atmosphere, it doesn’t only reflect the metamorphosis and regeneration process but also carries the secret information of the creation.

Some recent studies show that water is the ultimate receiver, carrier of information. A single drop of water can store terabytes of information, and this is one of the reasons why our brain is 95% water.
Evidence shows that water leaves a trace on every substance that it contacts.

Water constitutes, migrates, and interpenetrates everything.

This exploration has led me to explore a new technique that draws upon traditional Turkish paper marbling (Ebru).

My interest in paper marbling started in my early childhood years thanks to my father, Sedat Altinoz, who is a 5th-generation paper marbling artist at a pioneer Mustafa Duzgunman's school in Turkey. His alchemist-like approach to this art and insight, helped me gain a better appreciation for this ancient art form.

Until 2013 I only used natural earth-based, organic, and inorganic hand-crushed pigments and natural mediums almost exclusively. Upon moving to New York, I also began experimenting with new materials such as acrylic, alkyd, enamel paints, chemical solvents, and ultimately fire. This new approach has resulted in a wider variety of effects and abstract compositions and textures.

I am highly motivated to use my artistic practice as a vehicle for both personal and collective transmutation, purification, and catharsis. The archetypal forms that emerge in my artworks are a reflection of my perspective of the infinite well of human potential.
